A giant, undifferentiated recipe list is overwhelming. You scroll, you skim, you close the app without making anything. Recipe packs fix that by giving you a small, themed set of cocktails to actually flip through, one at a time, and decide: save it or skip it.
Think of a pack as a curated drop. A handful of cocktails gathered around one idea, a season, a spirit, an occasion, or a theme, ready to browse like a little deck of cards.
How Packs Work
Open a pack and you flip through its cocktails one card at a time. Each card shows the drink, a short description, what is in it, and whether you can make it with your bar right now or how many ingredients you are away.
- Swipe through on your phone, or use the on-screen arrows on the web.
- Save the ones you love, they drop straight into your cocktails with full measurements.
- Skip the rest and keep flipping.
- At the end you get a quick summary of what you saved and what you can pour tonight.
It is a fast, low-pressure way to discover drinks you would never have searched for by name.
Story First, Then the Recipe
Added July 2026: each drink now arrives in two beats. First you get the story card: the name, the artwork, and why this drink is worth your night. Then you turn to the recipe itself.
It sounds small, but it changes how you read a pack. You decide on the drink the way you would in a bar, from the description and the look of it, instead of scanning an ingredient list and moving on. The drinks you save are the ones you actually wanted, not the ones that happened to match your shelf.
Classics and Fresh Drops
Packs range from timeless classics to brand-new, original creations. Seasonal packs land throughout the year, think bright summer coolers or dark, spiced winter sippers, alongside special drops built around a theme or an event: a World Cup pack, a Golden Girls tribute, a summer pack for patio season. Because packs are added regularly, there is always something new to flip through.
You can also search the Packs tab, so a pack you heard about is a few letters away instead of a scroll away.
Every recipe in a pack is a real, complete recipe. Saving one adds it to your bar so you can make it, rate it, and build on it later.
Pitcher Perfect: Drinks Built for a Crowd
New in August 2026: the Pitcher Perfect pack is for the nights you are not making one drink at a time. Batch cocktails, punches, and pitchers, scaled for a room full of people.
It came with something the app needed anyway: big-batch measurements. Recipes in this pack are written in cups, liters, and bottles instead of ounces and dashes, because nobody wants to do the arithmetic of multiplying a 0.75 oz pour by fourteen while guests are arriving. Mix it in the pitcher, put it on the table, and go be at your own party.
Build Your Own Pack
Added July 2026: packs are not just something you receive anymore. Anyone can build one.
The Pack Builder walks you through it card by card. You name the pack, give it a theme, and then add drinks one at a time, with AI help along the way: it can write the description, sanity-check your measurements, and generate the artwork so your pack looks like the ones that ship with the app. You are the one deciding what belongs in it. The AI just handles the busywork so a ten-drink pack is an evening's project, not a month's.
When it is ready, you choose who gets it:
- Public, Publish it and anyone can find it in the Packs tab. Public packs go through moderation first, which keeps the shelf worth browsing. Recipes in a public pack get their own shareable link pages.
- Private, Keep it off the public shelf and hand out a code instead. Whoever has the code can unlock the pack; nobody else sees it. Good for a wedding, a supper club, a bar team, or a gift.
Building a pack costs $5, or Top Shelf supporters spend the pack credits included with their plan. That is the whole cost, and the pack is yours to update afterward.
The obvious use is a themed collection you have been carrying in your head for years. The less obvious ones are better: the ten drinks your friend group actually orders, the house cocktails from a bar you love, a pack of your grandmother's punch recipes, handed out by code at the family reunion.
Save Straight Into Your Bar
The moment you save a cocktail from a pack, it becomes part of your collection. Home Bar Hero matches it against your bottles and tells you if you can make it tonight, or exactly what you are missing. No copy-paste, no separate list to manage, the pack feeds directly into the same smart matching that powers the rest of the app.
Pairs Perfectly With the Rest of Home Bar Hero
Recipe packs are one of several ways to discover your next drink:
- Scan your bar and see everything you can already make.
- Flavor Lab invents a brand-new cocktail from a taste you dial in.
- Ask AI answers "what should I pour tonight?" against your actual shelf.
- Recipe packs hand you curated, themed collections to flip through and save.
Different moods, different starting points, same goal: get a great drink in your hand.
